Park

Frederick Recreation Area and Milavec Lake

129 acres around Milavec Lake: fishing piers, non-motorized boating, a 1.26-mile loop plus 1.7 miles of paved trail, an off-leash dog park, two playgrounds, a fitness court and a 30,000-square-foot skate park.

The Town’s biggest park wraps Milavec Lake with a 1.26-mile crusher-fine loop and 1.7 miles of paved trail, fishing piers (a Colorado license over 16; no ice fishing, because the aerators keep the ice unstable), non-motorized boating once the water is clear of ice, an off-leash dog park, a basketball court, horseshoe pits, two playgrounds, picnic pavilions and a tile mural on the old pumphouse. Bald and golden eagles winter here. At the south-west corner is the Frederick Skate Park, 30,000 square feet of poured concrete designed with Team Pain: an 18,500-square-foot street course, an egg bowl, a 10,000-square-foot flow bowl and two full pipes, unsupervised and lit for evening use; the Town posts its hours as dawn to 10 pm. Shelter reservations close from 30 September to 1 February.
