Park
St. Vrain State Park
Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s pond-dotted park on the northwest edge of Firestone, just west of I-25: 689 acres of land and 228 of water, 87 campsites, seven miles of trail, a boat ramp and the only state park inside a Colorado town’s limits.
Once Barbour Ponds, St. Vrain State Park is flat, open and full of water, built for anglers, campers, photographers and birders. CPW lists 689 acres of land and 228 of water, 87 campsites, 20 picnic sites, seven miles of trail, a boat ramp on Blue Heron Reservoir and two EV chargers at the camper services building; the entrance station is staffed 9 am to 5 pm; the daily vehicle pass is $10 to $15 and an individual day pass $4. Reach it from I-25 exit 240, west on Colorado 119, then north on County Road 7, which becomes County Road 24 1/2. Dogs on a leash, service animals and horses are allowed. The Town of Firestone says it is the only Colorado state park annexed into a town.
