Trail
Firestone Trail
Twelve miles on the bed of the railway that carried Firestone’s coal, from Settlers Park to Coronado Park, linking the town’s parks with the St. Vrain Legacy Trail and the Colorado Front Range Trail.
When Firestone’s five coal mines closed (the last in 1947) the track bed that had carried their coal was decommissioned and became the Firestone Trail, which the Town’s History page describes as 12 miles long, running from Settlers Park to Coronado Park and connecting neighborhood and regional parks, the St. Vrain Legacy Trail and the Colorado Front Range Trail. The Town’s facility listing gives it a Grant Avenue address in the original townsite and lists benches, picnic tables and bins along the way; its parks and trails map shows the route.
